Unrest: dir Jennifer Brea (2017)
20 July @ 3.00 pm - 4.30 pmFree
Harvard PhD student Brea was struck down at 28 by a fever that left her bedridden. Doctors told her it’s “all in her head”. Determined to live, she turns her camera on herself and her community, a hidden world of those confined to their homes and bedrooms by ME, commonly called chronic fatigue syndrome. The result is an unflinching and deeply personal look at a disease that overwhelms both the stricken and the medical community. Also screens on 23 July (7.30pm) and 27 July (3pm).
Shows as part of Cinema Akil’s FIERCE! Part II, a free American Film Showcase programme focussing on female success, failures, curiosities and preoccupations.
