The pop up festival returns for “a vibrant celebration of contemporary culture, featuring a diverse array of art, cuisine, fashion and design” from 15 to 18 May.
Latifa Al Hamed, owner of the organiser Festember, described it as “a playground celebrating contemporary arts and culture during the evenings of Ramadan … This is innovative expression that still ties back to our culture and heritage.”
The main emphasis is on retail and fashion. For instance, the star turn is LA’s Oliver Coreaux who reworks luxury handbags and accessories by “weaving stories to create distinct visual narratives”, is due to unveil an accessory capsule collection involving painting tote bags and accessories by Goyard, Celine, Hermes, Louis Vuitton and Rimowa.
There are lots of Emirati trendsetters in the event’s retail section, which aims to capture “the exclusive feel of a high-end fashion boutique”. There’s also a dedicated fashion hub, THE LOFT, for upcoming designers and brand new brands.
And there’s art, with themes ranging from female empowerment to rural Emirati populations and historic mining communities from across the region. The art side will feature “various local and international artists”.
