Dubai Drama Group is bringing Brian Friel’s haunting play to Dubai for the first time in Dubai. Hailed by the New York Times as “a major work of art” and by the Guardian as “one of the most quietly powerful and influential of Irish plays of the last 30 years”, it’s a triumph of story-telling – “by turns funny, profound, spiritual and deeply moving”, as the Telegraph puts it. It’s also a great play for actors, with a series of monologues revealing alternative memories and shifting realities – Ciaran Mulhern is Francis Hardy, an itinerant faith healer; his wife Grace Hardy is played by Aileen Dowling; and Steven Wyatt is Hardy’s long-serving manager Teddy.
There are performances at 4pm and 8pm, and again at 8pm on 25 and 27 June. They’re free, but donations are welcome. RSVP via the link to guarantee a seat.
