Faenza: L’Europe Galante
27 February @ 7.30 pm - 10.00 pm
AED 120
A buffet-recital of 17th-century music on original instruments at the Alliance Française’s Cafe Odeon. The title ‘l’Europe Galante’ is borrowed from an André Campra opera to describe a programme that will take a musical journey through four countries associated with music from the period – Italy, France, Spain and England.
Faenza will also introduce the audience to the ancient practice of accompanied singing. The group is a trio led by singer and theorbo player Marco Horvat (a theorbo is a large bass lute, of course) with Francisco Mañalich (vocals and viola da gamba) and Olga Pitarch (vocals and spinet).
AF members pay AED 100 per seat, for non-members it’s AED 120; the ticket price includes a buffet menu, constructed by chef Thomas Duhamel (founder of Cafe Odeon) with starters from France, a main course from Spain, cheese from England and dessert from Italy.
