5 April @ 8.00 pm - 9.30 pmAED 100
It’s good to see small-scale touring theatre in town, if only because it can stimulate the local ecosystem by demonstrating what’s happening elsewhere. Here we have two rather good one-man plays by Steven Berkoff, both exploring the idea of façade – Dog focuses on a day in the life of a racist football fan and his beloved pitbull terrier, Roy, who changes his life; Actor is a heartbreaking monologue that explores status and isolation as a job-seeking actor. The production is by Threedumb Theatre, who won a five-star review for it a couple of months ago in London; both plays were directed and performed by Stephen Smith, an “inimitable talent” as that review put it.
There are shows at 6.30pm and 8.30pm (it lasts an hour or so) with two more on 6 April.
