Children’s Museum: A Costume Adventure
9 JulyAED 63
Louvre Abu Dhabi’s specially designated section Children’s Museum area opens with an interactive show about the use of costume in art.
Centrally located across two floors, the Children’s Museum will host interactive workshops (in Arabic and English) as well as a programme of family-oriented exhibitions with the entirely laudable aim of inspiring young minds by teaching children (it is pitched at kids aged six to 12) about artistic techniques and ideas – which ought to be a central tenet of all such institutions, of course, both educating and serving as a bridge to the rest of the museum.
The Costume Adventure show is recommended for kids up to 10 years and promises to show “how artists throughout history have used clothes to reveal facts about the people wearing them”. There’s virtual dressing-up – create a digital avatar, collect accessories for your characters by exploring original artworks, dress yourself in a replica costume. Sounds fun; and while all children must be accompanied by an adult (who pays the normal museum admission charge of AED 63 if he/she isn’t a Louvre Abu Dhabi Art Club member) anyone under the age of 13 gets into the museum free.
The Costume Adventure runs through July.
