A second performance for this fierce, funny but frightening monologue about the ‘meninist’ movement so adored by the alt-right, written by the very talented Penelope Skinner. American actor Donald Sage Mackay plays Roger, a man who once had a good job at AT&T but who now finds himself divorced, paying alimony and working as the third assistant manager at a supermarket. Then he discovers Angry Alan, a pioneer of the online men’s rights movement, whose argument that things have gone too far and that we now live in a “gynocentric society” comforts and sustains Roger. He starts to feel better about himself … but there are consequences to the kind of warped self-realisation that he’s being encouraged to feel.
