Manifold – A Festival of Musical Diversity: An Evening of Flute and Piano
1 April @ 7.30 pm - 10.00 pmFree, but pre-register
The third and final night of NYUAD’s contemporary music festival provides a series of Middle Eastern and world premieres. Cristina Ioan (flute) and Ioannis Potamousis (piano) – both NYUAD faculty – present their first collaboration in a chamber music recital that aims to bridge between well known works by Poulenc, Ravel, and Schubert; pieces by the acclaimed young Mexican composer Cristóbal MarYán; and new contemporary works by Abu Dhabi based composers (and NYUAD alumni) Matthew Quayle and Leontious Hadjileontiadis. The premise: that classical music does not live solely in the past, and that present-day composers are creating valuable work which we should not leave aside.
