ACAW FIELD MEETING Take 6: Thinking Collections
25 January - 26 JanuaryFree
Asia Contemporary Art Week’s FIELD MEETING, an annual forum for arts professionals, takes place off-site for the first time in Alserkal Avenue. It runs alongside Quoz Arts Fest on 25 and 26 January.
Some 300 arts professionals are expected for “an energetically charged, theatrically imbued, and uplifting two-day experience that seeks to replicate the intimacy of a studio visit on a communal scale”. FIELD MEETING Take 6: Thinking Collections takes curator Leeza Ahmady’s thesis of “seeing the artist as the first collector, and artists’ studios as primary collections” as an entry point for expanding the concept of ‘collections’. The forum seeks to reclaim ‘collections’ as the living energy of people: their research, processes, and meaningful activities.
There’s fuller information here which includes the curatorial statement and details of presenting artists and institutions. Attendance is free to arts professionals, but space is limited and advance registration is required here.
