Abu Dhabi International Book Fair
24 April - 30 AprilFree
ADIBF is back, in its 29th edition. Reportedly over 250,000 visitors came to last year’s event; this year there will be more than 1,000 exhibitors from 50 countries, displaying some 500,000 titles. Famous names attending include the Nigerian poet and novelist (and Booker winner) Ben Okri; Saroo Brierley, whose memoir inspired the film Lion; and Ziauddin Yousafzai, father of Nobel Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai. The Fair has always been a commercial event for publishers and book distributors, but this year continues its popularising trend with an E-Zone, where visitors will be able to explore the latest technology in the field; Comic Corner, dedicated to the DC Comics character Aquaman; and an Entertainment Zone, featuring music and food from different cultures.
Admission is free for the general public. The fair is open 9am to 10pm each day except Friday (4pm to 10pm).
