Custot discusses the role of the gallerist with Mahnaz Fancy in this 101 Talk. He should be worth listening to: he started in the gallery business way when he was just 21. Later he partnered with Waring Hopkins in 2001 to form Galerie Hopkins-Custot in Paris; in the meantime he was organising fine art fairs, notably the Salon des Beaux-Arts (subsequently renamed the Pavilion of Art & Design (PAD) and now held annually in London and Geneva as well as Paris). He later joined Waddington Galleries in London and since 2011 has owned 50 percent of Waddington Custot Galleries. He opened Custot Gallery Dubai in Alserkal Avenue in 2016 to show contemporary art, mostly from Europe and North America.
